We see lots advice for new DMs, but what’s your advice for veteran DMs?

First SHOULD be obvious, but remember you’re a storyteller; you’re there to entertain the players, not compete against them. I saw it too often though.
Second; find that balance between being a killer DM and a Monty Haul campaign.
As a spin on the first comment (which was brilliant BTW 🙂 ), anticipate what your players are likely to do as you’re creating an adventure. Make the rogues and bards work for those sneaky solutions. Again, I’m advocating balancing difficulty in the story,
Lastly, a piece of advice that goes against everything Hollywoood stands for anymore: Use thinking villains instead of the next biggest monster in the Manual each time.
