Mountains are calling & I must go! Let’s wander where the Wi-Fi is weak & the trails are steep.
Adventure awaits!

Jason Roberts is a photographer who threw himself back into the art like a man escaping a burning building. No plan, no roadmap, just a camera and a hunger for something real. Oregon is his stomping ground: mountains that bleed into the sky, rivers that rage like drunk gods, and ghost towns crumbling under the weight of time. That’s where his lens points, not at the polished, the staged, or the safe, but at the raw nerve of the world.
Roberts walked away from photography once, swallowed by the static of daily life, but he came back swinging. The camera became his weapon and salvation, a way to wrestle order from chaos and bring back proof that the wild is still out there kicking. Every shot is a field report: lightning storms stitched over the Three Sisters, deer skulls strung up in hunting camps, forests whispering secrets in the dark.
Through Nerdy Viking Photography, Roberts keeps driving down back roads, chasing storms, and crawling into the forgotten corners of the Pacific Northwest. His work is part survival note, part love letter, part battle cry. A reminder that beauty isn’t gentle, it’s feral, and you have to step off the map to find it.
What bothers you and why? What Bothers Me and Why (A Savage Screed from the Edge of the Abyss) What bothers me? Jesus H. Christ, where do I even start? Everything. Nothing. The whole hideous carnival of existence grinds my teeth down to nubs some days. It’s like trying to sleep in a room full Read more

Whistler’s Bend – “Where the Pines Know Your Name” Whistler’s Bend pulled us off the road like a gravity well made of pine needles, river mist, and that quiet itch behind the eyes that says, “There’s something here, and you’re not leaving until you see it.” We pulled in under a canopy of Douglas firs Read more
What are you most excited about for the future? What am I most excited about for the future? Jesus. You want me to stare into the swirling, technicolor void and give it a name? The future is a deranged freight train barreling straight at me, wheels screaming, sparks flying, and I’m standing on the tracks Read more
Are you seeking security or adventure? Security? Jesus Christ, no. That’s a death trap. Security is a padded room with no sharp corners and Muzak dripping out of the ceiling vents. I’ve seen what it does to people, softens their brains like overcooked cabbage until they’re content to sit in beige cubicles eating chicken salad Read more

It was supposed to be a birthday adventure, pure and simple. Sixteen years old, two teenagers fueled by bravado and granola bars, and me, the designated Sherpa hauling extra water bottles and a camera bag like some damned beast of burden. Silver Falls State Park… the great jewel of Oregon… the Trail of Ten Falls. Read more
What do you think gets better with age? Goddamn near everything worth living for gets better with age, assuming you survive long enough to feel it. Whiskey, for one. And not that bottom-shelf swill you guzzled in your twenties just to shut your brain up no, I’m talking about the good stuff: the kind that Read more
