How do you use social media?
Social media can be a lot of noise. But for me, it’s also a place of connection, storytelling, and creativity. At Nerdy Viking Photography, I’ve found that platforms like Instagram and WordPress aren’t just tools; they’re extensions of the lens I carry on the trail.
Instagram is where the visuals come alive. It’s quick, it’s vibrant, and it lets me share the moments as they unfold. Whether it’s the moody fog hanging over a forest trail, a hawk perched in perfect stillness, or my sons walking beside me on another Oregon hike. Each post is a snapshot not only of nature, but of legacy one frame at a time. I keep the captions meaningful, tying in personal reflection, Norse quotes, or even bits of poetic storytelling. It’s not just about likes; it’s about building a visual record of the journey.

Then there’s WordPress, my digital campfire. This is where I dig deeper, through the Legacy in the Lens series and beyond. Here I can reflect on each adventure, the emotions behind the images, and the stories that go unseen between shutter clicks. It’s more than a portfolio; it’s a journal, a legacy project, and a place to connect with others who love the outdoors, photography, or simply taking a breath in a noisy world.
Social media helps Nerdy Viking Photography bridge the wild places and the digital ones. Through these platforms, I get to share the stillness, the wonder, and sometimes even the chaos that comes with hiking with kids, chasing the light, or stumbling into unexpected moments of beauty.
And as I keep walking this path, camera in hand, boots in the mud. I’m grateful for these platforms that let me leave a digital trail behind, one photo and one post at a time.
