Week 1: Fehu (ᚠ) Wealth and Abundance

“Cattle die, kinsmen die, and so must one die oneself. But there is one thing I know which never dies: the fame of a dead man’s deeds.” – Hávamál

Fehu, the first rune of the Elder Futhark, represents wealth and material abundance, originally symbolizing cattle, a sign of wealth in ancient Norse culture. However, Fehu is more than material riches it’s about the flow of resources, energy, and prosperity. It reminds us that wealth must move and circulate, much like the energy of life itself. In a broader sense, Fehu teaches us about the importance of generosity, sharing our wealth, and using our resources wisely. Just as Odin reminds us in the Hávamál that only deeds and reputation last beyond death, Fehu encourages us to use our abundance to create something lasting. Reflection: How do you view wealth in your life? Is it something you cling to, or do you see it as a flow of energy, meant to be shared and used for greater purposes?
