The upside to doing solo hikes, you are alone with your thought and able to get things organized. The downside to hiking alone is that you are alone with your thoughts. There are times when thoughts of my Dad come flooding back. The grief of losing him hits me hard all over again. So I find myself taking a moment to work things out and smile. Being thankful for everything I have in life and all the experiences I’ve gone through. Embrace the power of a smile, even when sadness blankets your heart. Let it be a beacon of defiance against the sorrow, a spark of hope in the depths of despair. A smile, genuine or not, can be a subtle yet profound act of self-compassion and resilience. It’s a reminder that amidst the trials and tribulations, there’s a part of you that remains unbroken, capable of finding light in the darkest of times. So, even when your soul feels heavy, lift the corners of your mouth into a smile. It’s more than just a facial expression; it’s a declaration that you are stronger than your sadness, a small step towards healing, and perhaps, a way to brighten someone else’s day too.
