And we hit number 10 in the Star Trek Book Challenge! Only 78 more to go hahaha, that’s all. God help me , what did I start? Anywho, The Last Stand (Star Trek: The Next Generation #37) Written By Brad Ferguson who is no stranger to the Sta Trek universe.
With this novel Brad puts out a strong story at holds up with the best TNG story lines/shows. The Last Stand over all plot is about two different races at war and have this undying hatred for thousands of years. the TNG crew comes in to try and help. Story line is rather serious and dark centering around Riker, Troi and Picard. Over all a good read and quick too. the only problem I have with the book is the ending… it seems a little thin and cheap. Maybe I read it wrong or missed something all together. I’ll go back read it again… I do recommend this book for a read! The action was smooth and the drama between everyone was fitting and not out of place, like some of the Star Trek books I’ve read in the past.
The plot out line for The Last Stand is:
In the middle of a routine mapping mission, Captain Picard and the crew of the “U.S.S. Enterprise” TM encounter a culture just on the edge of developing warp drive technology. When they survey the planet, they are startled by the sudden approach of thousands of spacecraft from an aggressive alien race bent on destroying this emerging culture. Picard has only days to resolve a conflict that has been going on for millennia. If he fails, billions will die, yet if he succeeds, he will unleash a powerful new threat to the Federation.
